Art History and Yogurt

♫ Listening to: Damien Rice - Volcano ; )

The reason why I have not posted in a bajillion years is because school is taking up every bajillion second of the day and also has drained my mind of creativity. I'm taking art history at school, so there will be some interesting art posts coming soon. If I have the time to do them. I think I could be a tour guide in an art museum now. Or at least be able to lecture my friends on three thousand years of art.

On a completely unrelated note, I really like yogurt now for some reason... peace yogurt has always been my favorite but I really like lemon yogurt too. Okay and also, I haven't read a good book in a really really long time. I think in school we're starting Scarlet Letter soon. I don't generally like school books, but I've heard a lot about this one and it sounds more .... interesting I guess.

Annnd also, I need to update the picture on the upper right corner of this page. It's like two years old now. I'm so tired. I can't even type a logical blog post. Better go before I start talking about marshmallows and aliens. Goodnight!

Television Rules the Nation

♫ Listening to: Franz Ferdinand - This Fire

Here is a list of the TV shows that I enjoy watching:

Big Bang Theory: Probably my all time favorite show! What's not to love? Especially Sheldon!
Glee: A popular show that involves singing and high school? I'm in.
Important Things with Demetri Martin: Clever and funny like no other.
Chuck: After watching this show, I have really wanted to become a spy.
The Office: I still haven't finished the 6th season because I'm too lazy to watch it. And Michael Scott really gets on my nerves if that's possible, so all in all, I don't feel like watching the office these days, but it still is one of my favorite shows.
The Colbert Report: My daily dose of liberalism.
Gossip Girl: Addicting and scandelous: YES Insightful and educational: NO
Pretty Little Liars: Yeah, this is more addicting than Gossip Girl. Oh well, it's the summer - I can indulge a little.

On My Bookshelf

♫ Listening to: Maroon 5 - Misery

I thought I would give you a taste of what I'm reading these days, but seriously, I haven't read a hardcore book in such a long time (besides school related stuff). This summer, I tried to read Pride & Prejudice, but I resorted to watching the movie for the 5th time and then watching the 1995 BBC television adaptation. Soooo that didn't work out quite as I had hoped.

So a couple months ago, I bought an iTunes app called "Cathy's Book" and it was like a mystery about this girl who's boyfriend is involved in strange things (sorry about the vagueness) and it comes with cool animations and "evidence", along with text, like a book. It took me a while to realize that "Cathy's Book" is actually a real published book and when i did I started reading the whole series thing. The illustrations are really beautiful (in a doodleish way) and I was even inspired to start up a sketchbook, which I really should have done a while ago. It's a really great series and I can't wait for more!

P.S. The "evidence" comes in a packet and there's even clues online! It's really interactive! Read HERE for more!

Ice Cream Withdrawal

♫ Listening to: R.E.M. - Losing My Religion

I've eaten ice cream everyday since, like, 7th grade. Not really. But seomething close to that. I haven't eaten ice cream in like a month. I feel strange. I must have ice cream withdrawal.

Symptoms include:
1. Listless staring while opening and closing the fridge
2. Paying special attention to magazines and newspapers with images of sundaes
3. Dreaming about frozen yogurt (yes, in my sleep)

A Fair Day

♫ Listening to: Goldfrapp - Believer

Yesterday, I had an adventure at a fair. My friends and I got there pretty early, but it was already really crowded. We went on a lot of the rides, but I'm not a big roller coaster fan (yes, I get scared) so I didn't go on some the ones my friends went on. I mean, why pay a jacked up price for something you're not going to enjoy right? We got funnel cake which was pretty good, and I got a corndog for lunch.

Random Bits

♫ Listening to: Nothing

I just saw the trailer for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. =) I can't wait to see them both. I wish it was just one 5 hour long film instead of two. I could sit in the theater for 10 hours if it was to watch Harry Potter.

Lately, I've been going to SAT prep classes which are no fun let me tell you. I have homework which I have been procrastinating on. Let's see: math, test corrections, and a 40 question vocab test tomorrow on 250 words. Yayyyy!!!! :(

Summer Tunes

♫ Listening to: Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince Audiobook
(Yes, I listen to audiobooks, and yes, I LOVE THEM)

I thought I would enlighten everyone on the music that I am currently listening to and also on songs/artists that I have always loved:

Artist: Stars
Favorite Songs: Wasted Daylight, Dead Hearts
I only recently heard of Stars and I have never ceased to stop listening to their smooth flow of dream-like melodies.

Artist: Camera Obscura
Favorite Songs: French Navy, Honey in the Sun
These retro songs evoke feelings of happy summertimes free of worries. I would check out other Camera Obscura songs - they all have a similiar funky vibe.

Artist: Sara Bareilles
Favorite Songs: King of Anything
This new hit from her upcoming albumn is one of my favorite songs! This song is a classic fu** you song and what girl couldn't use more of those? I love the chorus - it's very fun and upbeat.

Artist: Apollo Sunshine
Songs: Singing to the Earth, Breeze
I like lounging outside, curling up with a good book, and listening to Apollo Sunshine. I would describe their songs as mostly intrumental, experimental, and cheerful. You can catch moments of pure bliss in the melodic guitar strums and upbeat rhythms.

Artist: Rosie Thomas
Songs: Farewell
I recently discovered this song and although it's a very sad, nostalgic sort of song, it's completly beautiful in every way. I love songs based on piano and this is one of them. This is overall just a great song not to mention Rosie's voice is awsome!

So that's about all the new music I've been digging these couple of weeks ! Enjoy!

Alaskalaska

♫ Listening to: Camera Obscura - French Navy

School is out! :)
I got out of school a couple of weeks ago and I went on vacation for about 10 days. Let me tell you about. Ok, so I went on a princess cruise which was really relaxing, I mean, c'mon, ice cream all day? I'm in! It all seems great until you gain weight, which isn't as bad as you would expect. We saw glaciers and went hiking which brought out the environmentally conscious side of my mind.

Did you know that Juneau, the capital of Alaska, is only accessible by airplane and boat? (according to this tourguide) There's no highway or road that leads there... strange. I wanted to go to Denali national park, but we didn't have enough time. Oh and also the weather was really cold. And there's close to 24 hr daylight there, so at 10 pm it looked like it was 9 am which was really confusing.

So now that I'm back, I'm doing an SAT prep course and I'm taking the SAT in october. I'm planning this to be a one time thing, so by the end of the summer I should be able to blow College Board's mind away - their cold, calculating, elitist minds... just kidding. On a lighter note, I'm going to the Del Mar Fair next weekend with my friends! Until then, I will toil away endlessly and enjoy the cookies that I just baked. Yes, I said "baked", that is, made from scratch! - something people don't do very often now. Even though it's summer, I am not as lazy as I predicted. This is madness!!!

Popsicle

♫ Listening to: Katy Perry - California Gurls

Ahh... summer is almost here! :D
Right now, I feel like eating a popsicle. Trader Joe's Fruit Floes are my favorite. I like the strawberry ones because you can actually see and taste the real strawberries. It's not just sugar and water. Yumyum. The only flavor of popsicle that I don't like is cherry. I just don't like cherry flavored things. I feel like it doesn't really taste like a cherry much.

AP testing is over and you would think that teachers would give less homework, but I actually have a ton of stuff due next week. I also have choir auditions next week and I'm going to miss school one day because of a field trip. Life is crazy.

lalalalife

♫ Listening to: Katharine McPhee - Brand New Key

Now I'm sad. Is no one reading my blog?
"Hello world, are you listening?"
I have so much uncertainty about the future and my life it's not even funny. Whatwhatwhat am I going to do with my life? :(

Anyways, the choir trip was super duper fun, but now I'm in the routine boredom of school again. Alone. Blehblehbleh. I should be doing homework right now, but you know...
I'm going to see Alice in Wonderland this Sunday and I'm going to ask someone to go, but I don't know who. I have a couple of ideas and I hope one of those people says yes. Because I would hate to go alone. And in April I hope to go see Owl City and Lights in concert. :) What an exciting life I have. Full of happiness, excitement, etc. That was partial sarcasm. ! Don't forget to watch the Big Bang Theory episode that aired a couple of days ago. You would never miss that... right? :) Got to go now!

Hair, There, Everywhere

♫ Listening to: Train - Save Me, San Francisco (This song would make such a good movie opening song, catch my drift?)

So... last Sunday I went to Target, which is one of my favorite stores. (I'll do another post on favorite stores) I just wanted to share two things that I bought because I think they are really really good. (so far) These are both Herbal Essences hair products, so tune out if you aren't interested:

First up is Herbal Essences Long Term Relationship Leave-In Split End Protector: I really like this product so far. I'm saying so far because I've only used it twice, but I'm surprised by the results. I don't think it does anything for split ends, so I just treat it as a leave in conditioner. I use it after I shower and apply it to wet hair. It makes my hair less frizzy and more straight. I guess the result depends on your hair texture. Even though I have naturally straight hair, it makes my hair more smooth and shiny.

Next is Herbal Essences Drama Clean Shampoo: Let me start of by saying that I used this shampoo with Herbal Essences Pin Straight Conditioner. I like this combination because I don't see the point of having a "drama clean" conditioner.

I enjoy using both these products and I would recommend them, but I probably won't repurchase them because I like to keep my options open and I don't stick to certain products. These are my personal opinions and they may change over time. Hope this helps! =)

Hello World, Are You Listening?

♫ Listening to: One Republic - Come Home

Hey! Last month and this month are going to be really hard. I'm going to Arizona next week and this week I don't have school, so basically I have to make up a ton of work and tests. I'm kind of nervous to go to Arizona because it's a choir trip, and I don't know a lot of people in my choir class. My good friend from choir isn't going on the trip. Yeah... guess I'll just make the best of it.

Yesterday, I went to hang out with some of my friends and we played wii ... for like five hours. Since all of my friends have wii's and I don't, well, let's just say my video game skills are lacking. It was fun though. We played Big Brain Academy and Wii Play. I think that I wouldn't buy a wii because I'm an only child and I don't want to be addicted to video games. I mean, c'mon I already am obsessed with music, my laptop, and television. What more could I need? Haha. Yeah, so overall, I think the wii is best if you have a lot of people over at your house often. So anyways...

Oh, did you know that using "anyways" to start a sentence is not grammatically correct. My 7th grade grammar freak teacher told me this. Also, the word pronunciation is pronounced wrong a lot. It's supposed to be proNUNciation, but people say proNOUNciation. And those are your two interesting facts for the day! Just kidding ...

TGIF! =)

Back!

♫ Listening to: Kate Winslet - What If

It's a new decade! My new year's resolution is to keep my room and bathroom clean. Exciting, huh?

I went to Las Vegas over break and that was super fun! We stayed at Encore and that hotel is soooo beautiful. The hotel rooms are sooo big and stylish. I would definetly go there again!

School starts in two days. :(

Self Portrait:

♫ Listening to: nothing actually
Oh my, I have a C in my math class. I think I am going to die. Expire. Pass Out. NOW. :(
whattodo? whattodo? I'm going to try to get a B. If I get a 100% on the final, I could get an A. But I don't want to go into all the what ifs. I was going to tell funny story, but now I forget. Anyway, I ate lots of peppermint bark toda.y and beef jerky. I was looking forward to a bowl of hot chicken soup at lunch, but apparently my school only has that on random days and they don't tell us these things.

How I feel right now/how I am going to feel the rest of this week: sjdkafjeijaiorjeoiarjaiowejwjfiojaeiofjaidsjfhidohrourpejionvjkcnxkmc.,zxm,cm,.zmkdask!!!!!

Update Ramble

♫ Listening to: Lesley Roy - I'm Going, I'm Gone

This isn't really an update since I blogged yesterday. But yesterday's post was about music and that does not count. Sooooo... Today I woke up at 12 p.m. because I was really tired this entire week. On Friday, we had a school assembly and I had to perform as part of the choir. It was a good experience over all except for the fact that it was raining. Oh and I had a math test with four problems and I missed one of them, which is a C. Oh well I can retake it. :/

On a brighter note, I went to Costco today, which is a warehouse type store that sells well, everything. Last week there was like no food at my house. No yummy snacks, so today my mom and I went to Costco. We got chicken noodle soup and chicken broth and blackberries and pinapple, which I have been craving. You know how sometimes you crave foods? I never crave chocolate or cake, instead, I crave fruit or french fries usually. Weird. We got a lot of other stuff, but I forget what. Oh yeah! We got peppermint bark, which I have NEVER had before. It's yummy! Tomorrow I'm going to a potluck so I'm going to bring some of that for dessert. Right now, I'm pretty tired, but I had a good lunch.

It's almost 2010! We are either going to Las Vegas or LA this holiday season. Last year we went to San Francisco. Really, I would be happy wherever we went because I like every single vacation. Even if we aren't going somewhere I really like, I can always find something fun to do. Go with the flow is like my life motto. Sometimes. Haha.

Semi-Giant Music Post

♫ Listening to: Nutcracker Jingles (a choir song that's REALLY GOOD)

Hey! I wanted to do this post specifically on music because if I wrote about my life, it would overflow this box. ;) So, basically, I listen to a wide variety of music. I have every single genre you can think of, so I'm pretty open minded. I listen to mostly rock/pop/electronic/country music and I listen to other genres as well but not as much. I'm going to make two lists of songs. One of songs that I really love right now at the moment. And another list of songs that I could listen to for the rest of my life, in other words, I LOVE LOVE LOVE these songs!

List of songs I love at the moment: Norah Jones - Chasing Pirates, Kelly Clarkson - Long Shot, Mutemath - Spotlight, Tokio Hotel - Human Connect to Human, Little Boots - Remedy, Song from a secret garden, Adam Lambert - For Your Entertainment, All Lights songs

List of songs I will eternally enjoy: Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody, All Beatles Songs (my favorites being Hello Goodbye, Love Me Do, Here Comes The Sun, Ob-la-di Ob-la-da, The Ballad of John and Yoko, Hey Jude), All Simon & Garfunkel songs (my favorites being A Hazy Shade of Winter, Sound of Silence, I Am A Rock, Homeward Bound), also Martina McBride - Independence Day, Adam Lambert - Mad World, Tokio Hotel - Monsoon, Marissa Nadler - River of Dirt, and lots lots more.

Other Artists I LOVE: La Roux, Owl City, The Veronicas, The Postal Service, Delta Goodrem. Check them out!
If you have any questions comment please. :) Enjoy!

At Lalalalast It's December!

♫ Listening to: Tokio Hotel - Human Connect to Human (I also really like The Dark Side of The Sun, and another song from their first album, Ready Set Go)

Hello! Happy December! I did really bad on my calc midterm and I have a B in AP European History, but on the bright side, we got our Christmas tree in today! Apparently when you buy over $200 at IKEA, they give you a Christmas tree for free, which is quite nice. I haven't seen it yet because I've been upstairs for a while. I redid my room, which is very exciting. And I am NOT the most organized person, but I'm trying extremely hard to control my sloppiness. Redoing my room simplified and cleaned it up. I got a long dresser of sorts and it's short enough so that I can sit on it like a bench. I also got a new nightstand. And we also got our carpet cleaned, so all the furniture in the house was moved to the wood floor and we just started putting all the furniture back yesterday. The first time we got carpet cleaners to clean our carpet, they burned parts of our carpet, so now we have permanent burn marks on the carpet. What a wonderful world.

Thanksgiving

♫ Listening to: Tokio Hotel - Monsoon

Happy Thanksgiving! I found new love for Tokio Hotel today, so I am thankful for that.
I am also thankful for:
  • my family
  • friends
  • myself (it DOES make sense if you think about it)
  • mother nature
  • the world in general
Now I'm going to go eat more food! =)

Pomegranates

♫ Listening to: Simon & Garfunkel - A Hazy Shade of Winter

There are 760 local varieties of pomegranates! Yum!
We just bought some from Costco and I'm so excited because now I can eat pomegranate whenever I want. Muhahaha. My friend has a pomegranate tree, which I am very jealous of. I would rather eat real pomegranate than drink the juice. What sucks is that the only time pomegranates are really in stock are during the winter. And they are so expensive. But it's worth the deliciousless!

Craving for Books and Music

♫ Listening to: The Carpenters - Sweet Sweet Smile
Two of my favorite groups of singers of ALL TIME are Simon & Garfunkel and The Carpenters. I love every single one of their songs! There's not a lot artists where I like all of their songs. Probably The Veronicas is one of them and The Beatles and Lights. Simon & Garfunkel have such a unique vibe and it makes you nostalgic and their lyrics are amazing. I can listen to their songs everywhere and anytime. On the other hand, Karen Carpenter (The Carpenters) has a gorgeous voice. They have some sad ballads and some more cheerful upbeat songs as well. Lalalalalalala. Anyways....

Have you ever been addicted to a book series? I have this very awkward situation at hand. I really like a lot of series like Gilda Joyce (I can quote those books from memory!) , but they're in the children's section and it's kinda awkward when I'm a teenager and I walk around among people half my age and size. Am I supposed to grow up and not read these books anymore? These books are like dear friends to me and I would like to keep reading them, but they aren't the thought-provoking books that most adults or teachers would prefer I read. Reading is more of a relaxing thing for me, when I read I want to be having a good time. I don't want my thoughts to be provoked. Those are snooze books for me.
